Maybe I wasn't meant to be loved
Perhaps I stared too long at the stars up above
I have yearned for it so very deeply
Though I refuse to ever gain it so cheaply
Like Ahab, I hunt for the great beast
The one that left all but me deceased
And though the scars still remain
I will continue to fight on through the pain
With a vengeance I return to the sea
And I will finally conquer thee!
Then again, maybe I won't
Laying here looking at the stars
I see how foolish and far off my dreams are
I roll over and stare blankly at the grass
Is this all just a test that I have to pass?
